Around the world in twice eighty days

As friends, family and followers know I travel a bit more than the average person and today I noticed the 561,370 km registered on TripIt. I am using TripIt since around August 2009, so that is 6 years and 2 months. Over this period I have thus traveled 91,033 km/year is 7586 km/month is 249 km/day. That is excluding my home-office commute.

Apparently I have been to 169 different locations or on average 27 different (new) locations every year. That is 2 per month. What the pic on the left does not show, but what I dug out of my 'past trips' list on TripIt is that it was a 140 trips in these past 6+ years. That is two trips per month which, on average, are both new places. That is pretty cool.

Also interesting to see is that, 561,370 km for 140 / 169 locations means that on average I travel 4010 km per trip and 3322 km to each (new) location. And last but not least, the circumference of the Earth is 40,000 km. I have thus traveled 14 times around the world over the past six years and do it on average a bit more than two times per year.

The funny thing is that Phileas Fogg rounded the globe in 80 days in 1873 whereas it takes me a 160 days on average.
